Create and Maintain Supportive and Safe Learning Environments
Standard 4, Create and Maintain supportive and safe learning Environment is a strong point in my compliance to the AITSL teaching standards. Managing challenging behaviour is the area that I need to continue to develop within the most but there is room within all areas where development can occur.
Focus area 4.1 I have been able to create a great rapport with any class that I have taught ranging across all of my completed placements. Particularly with my year 7 english class during my EPT329 placement. For 4.3 my classroom management has taken a massive leap forward and I am more confident when it comes to managing a classroom no longer relying on my associate teacher to step in.
I have not come across extremely challenging behaviour with a student within a classroom that I have been unable to resolve on my own. Sadly I had an incident with a year 12 student mid way through the EPT329 placement where he refused to follow instruction referring to myself as not being a "real teacher". I was able to follow the correct procedures by contacting Head of departments, Head of House and Head of school and the student was disciplined accordingly. The students name has been blanked out.

Focus area 4.4 To maintain student safety I have included detailed risk assessments when moving classes through the school. All Saints' Bathurst was quite a large campus so in order to move from classrooms to other areas a detailed risk assessment is required. Whilst at Lake Munmorah Public School I was given a copy of a safety policy and was expected to enforce the policy when it came to students leaving the classroom implementing the new system devised.
