Plan for and implement effective teaching and learning
The 3rd standard in the Australian Teaching is to Plan for and implement effective teaching and learning. I have complied with these standards particularly focus area 3.1 by establishing challenging learning goals and 3.4 with my selection of resources. My associate teachers feedback has helped me to differentiate lessons for different ability groups; struggling students, middle ground and extension students.
With the above maths lesson I had set I have shown my ability to select and use different resources to create a engaging and informative lesson. I have also planned this lesson to be challenging to all students of different abilities. Beginning this lesson I have chosen to have a full class activity so I can see what level each student is at in order to break them into the three groups. The students that have begun to understand 3 digit multiplication were able to move onto the next task and upon completion of this task an extension activity was available. This gave me the opportunity to work with the remaining two groups the struggling students and the middle group. Once students were able to understand the work they could branch off and attempt the 2nd task. Once all student have understood the activity then the conclusion to the lesson can happen. I then brought the entire class back together to work on harder problems as a class. Not allowing calling out I was able to assess if all students understood the 3 digit multiplication and establish which students would need to work further on the topic in the next multiplication lesson. During this lesson I had set my 3cans for the students to set their own achievements. By the end of the lesson students would have achieved at least one of the 3cans or all of them. By challenging the students to 3 ability goals I have used focus area 3.1 of the 3rd Standard.
The use of different resources including ICT shows how I have followed focus area 3.4 select and use a range of sources, including ICT, that engage students in their learning.
My 2nd lesson that demonstrates Standard 3 in the Australian teaching standards is a literacy lesson. Again I have focussed on the areas of 3.1 Establish challenging learning goals with the 3cans and focus area 3.4 Select and use resources.
Resources used within this lesson include, bookwork, ICT and an artistic hands on creation of a poster. This range of resources allowed for peak interest with the lesson, Use of technology and group work while creating information report posters. Again I have used the 3cans technique to allow all students to achieve at least 1 objective within the lesson.

Another focus area that I was able to begin to develop was 3.6 Evaluate and improve teaching programs. In my final report of EPT218 my associate teacher wrote that we reflected on every lesson that I have taught and discussed on area of which to improve. this paired with feedback from EPT329 associate teacher feedback I have improved greatly, this being evident in my final report by Exceeding expectations. This is a huge jump not only in my ability but also my confidence.
I will need to focus on engaging with parents/carers in the educative process and this is a goal for my next placement. I have not yet had the chance to engage with parents and carers as shown in my final placement report for EPT329.
